"Ham, what if I pick the wrong path?"
He asks me that at the gym one evening. We've been talking about training, school, what he wants to do next.
But the question isn't about university.
It's about life. Career. Direction. The fear that one wrong turn ruins everything.
Most of us have asked it in some form.
When you're young it feels like there's one perfect path. One perfect degree. One perfect career. Miss it and you're done.
That's how the pressure feels from the inside.
I used to think adults had it all worked out. Then I started working, and started meeting them properly. Teachers, business owners, engineers, managers, parents.
Most of them were still figuring it out too.
They weren't following one perfect plan. They made the best call they could at the time, then adjusted when life moved.
And life moves. Your interests change. Your opportunities change. Your responsibilities change. Sometimes even your idea of success changes.
So the goal isn't finding the perfect path. The goal is choosing a direction and moving.
You learn more from ten steps forward than from two years of standing still trying to get the decision perfect.
The path usually gets clearer once you're walking it.
