Being new at work is strange.
You're trying to do the job. You're also trying to read the room. Who needs to be told? Who decides? What matters here? What annoys people? What does everyone expect without ever saying it?
No one tells you. You have to notice.
That was one of the first things work taught me.
School explains its rules. A teacher gives instructions. A timetable says where to be. A test tells you what chapter matters.
At work, some rules get said out loud. Most don't. You learn them by watching, by asking, and by seeing what happens when something goes wrong.
Sometimes the mistake isn't that you were lazy or careless. You just didn't know yet what mattered here.
But once you've noticed, it's yours to learn. Who should I tell before I leave? Who needs an update? What should I ask before deciding? What makes the work easier for everyone else?
That's the part people miss at first. Doing the job is one thing. Learning how the place works is another.
The people who grow fastest are the ones paying attention.
Looking back, my first job wasn't only teaching me tasks. It was teaching me how to notice.
