You don't always need to be first.
That took me a while. The first book isn't always the best book. The first course isn't the clearest. The first app isn't the easiest to use.
The person who wins is usually the one who made it better.
I've stopped myself starting things because somebody had already done them. The website existed. The course existed. The book existed. The business existed.
So I assumed there was no point.
But "already done" doesn't mean "done well."
The more I looked, the more obvious it got. A lot of successful work wasn't new. It was better in some specific way. A little clearer. A little faster. A little easier. A little more honest.
For a long time I thought success came from having a brilliant idea. Now I think most of it comes from execution. Actually building the thing. Testing it. Improving it. Listening to feedback. Doing it again.
The internet makes every idea feel taken. Search for anything and someone has done it. A course. A channel. A product. A book.
That's discouraging until you notice what people are actually after. Not new. Useful. Something that solves a problem. Something that works. Something better than what they had.
So I stopped asking "has somebody done this before?" and started asking "can this be improved?"
Most chances don't come from inventing something new. They come from improving something that exists.
Sometimes better is enough.
